LEILI Brings Bus Wiper Systems to Aftermarket Buyers at Automechanika Shanghai 2024

Shanghai, China — Zhejiang Leili Auto Parts Co., Ltd. (“LEILI”), a manufacturer of automotive windshield wiper systems and bus door locks since 1989, exhibited at Automechanika Shanghai 2024, held from 2 to 5 December 2024 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). The company brought bus wiper systems, wiper motors and bus door locks built for replacement demand to Booth 4.1K107, and met aftermarket distributors and importers there.

Twenty years on, and the questions have changed
Automechanika Shanghai reached its twentieth edition in 2024. Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) and China Machinery International Cooperation started it in 2004, as a window through which Chinese suppliers looked out at export markets. Two decades later the flow runs the other way: it is where overseas buyers come to meet Chinese manufacturing capacity in one place.
That reversal changed the job. The first decade rewarded companies that could produce. This one rewards companies that can deliver — documentation, packaging, compliance files and after-sales handling included. A factory that can make the part but cannot label it to the importer’s specification, or cannot hold a carton count steady across three shipments, loses the order later in the process, somewhere between quotation and customs.
Distribution runs on part numbers rather than on parts. An importer holding a twenty-thousand-line catalogue cannot afford to re-specify anything; every new line has to slot into an existing sheet, with a cross-reference that their own counter staff can read without calling anyone. That is why the practical entry cost for a supplier is not tooling but paperwork — and why it tends to be visited on whoever is newest to the market.
The 2024 edition showed both sides of that shift. Exhibitor numbers rose 20% year on year to 6,763 companies from 40 countries. The organiser also introduced the first dedicated new-energy and intelligent connected vehicle zone, at 26,000 sqm with 477 exhibitors — a signal that landed squarely on suppliers of conventional mechanical parts, whose product planning now has to cover replacement demand on older vehicles and fitment on new ones at the same time.

LEILI at Booth 4.1K107: bus wiper systems for the aftermarket
The purpose of this stand was narrow: show wiper-system breadth and supply stability to overseas distributors. It is a different audience from the vehicle-maker engineers handled at other fairs, and it asks for a different kind of display.
The core of the stand was not the products. It was two lists. First, a model coverage sheet — which bus models each wiper layout fits, and under which part numbers. Second, a quotation-terms sheet — minimum order quantity, lead time, packaging options, marking. Samples were arranged around those two sheets:
- Bus windshield wiper assemblies: five layouts, each labelled with the bus models it covers
- Wiper motors: 30 W–180 W, 12 V and 24 V, with commonly ordered part numbers and minimum order quantities marked up
- Linkage mechanisms: centre distances from 400 mm to 2,000 mm
- Wiper blades: 400 mm to 1,000 mm
- Washer systems, wiper arms and the bus door lock series
Everything a visitor picked up pointed back to one line on one sheet. That answers the distributor’s real problem, which is rarely whether a product is good — it is whether the product can be entered into somebody else’s system without rework.
Distributors rarely open with performance questions. The recurring four were: which models does this cover, what is the minimum order, can you pack it under our own brand, and how long does delivery take. None of them is answerable from a catalogue photograph, and all four are usually raised within the first five minutes. LEILI came prepared with model cross-reference tables and packaging proposals rather than a catalogue.
The company is certified to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 and exports to Southeast Asia, Europe, South America and North America. Buyers deciding between factory-direct supply and traded goods may want to read our comparison of OE and aftermarket commercial vehicle wiper parts before committing to either route.

What visitors asked
What got asked most over the four days was not product performance. It was terms of cooperation.
The new-energy presence on the floor expanded sharply in both area and exhibitor count, which pushes parts suppliers towards dual-track planning. Overseas buyers’ questions have become finer: model coverage, minimum order quantity, packaging and marking, compliance documents, checked item by item, in that order.
A few years ago most of these conversations started and ended on unit price. Now distributors care less whether one purchase is cheap than whether the line will still be running in two years, and they check that through paperwork — often before they will start at all.
The order tells you something. Own-brand packaging comes before performance because it is a commitment the buyer cannot reverse: once boxes carry their mark, changing supplier means writing off stock.
Minimum order quantity follows, because it decides whether a first container can be mixed or has to be dedicated. Compliance documents come last only because most buyers assume they exist and check later. In any market with customs scrutiny that is a bad bet. Blades are usually what fills that first container, and the replacement blade range runs from 400 mm to 1,000 mm across bus and coach screens.
LEILI took a lesson home from this edition and reordered how it presents itself. Model coverage, minimum quantity, lead time and packaging now come before performance figures — not because the performance figures matter less, but because the buyer cannot reach them until the first four are answered.

Reach of the expo
Of the 222,341 professional visitors, 28% came from overseas, and that overseas figure grew 20% against the previous year. A foreign share of well over a quarter of 200,000-plus visitors means the fair’s practical function left domestic trade behind some time ago.
For the twentieth edition the organiser also ran a Yangtze Delta industry tour, taking overseas buyers to manufacturing sites in Shanghai, Changzhou and Hefei. Several buyers used it, and it changes how they negotiate afterwards: a distributor who has stood on a production line asks about equipment instead of discounts, and is more forgiving about lead time while the order is still small.
Eighty-one fringe events ran alongside the floor, most aimed at specific trades rather than general audiences. For overseas visitors on a four-day ticket, that density is the reason to stay all four days rather than sweep the halls in one — and staying is what turns a sample request into a specification.
LEILI’s other 2024 stops were Busworld Türkiye 2024, IAA Transportation 2024 and bauma SHANGHAI 2024. The following edition, next year’s Automechanika Shanghai, is reported separately; the two years read very differently.
Closing
The list starts with model confirmation, runs to quotation, and ends with samples out the door. Specific packaging and marking requirements collected from overseas customers at Automechanika Shanghai 2024 have been folded into the revision of LEILI’s bus wiper systems delivery specification.
Yang Hao, spokesperson for Zhejiang Leili Auto Parts Co., Ltd., said: “Most of the overseas buyers here are not buying Chinese parts for the first time, and they know what they want. With them the effective approach is to say clearly what you can do and what you cannot, and put model, minimum quantity and lead time on the table. Clear terms are what make the cooperation last.”
