Differentiated needs of the three major long-distance operation scenarios
Different routes require different wiper setups. One-size-fits-all raises fleet maintenance costs.
Scene 1: Plain Expressway (such as the Beijing-Shanghai and Shanghai-Kunming routes)
High-speed uniform operation: 95–100 km/h, 800+ km one-way.
High-speed wind lifts wiper blades, creating central the area that was not scraped zones. Residual water film blurs vision and lengthens braking distance.
Key points for selection:
Aerodynamic guide vanes are a must-have.
At 100 km/h, a deflector keeps wiper coverage ≥95%; without it, coverage falls to ~78%.
High torque motor reserve.
Leili ZD2730 (120W, 80 Nm, 30/45 rpm) handles heavy rain loads without speed loss.
Scene 2: Long-distance routes in mountainous/highland areas (such as along the routes of Yunnan-Guizhou-Chuan, Qinghai-Tibet)
Operational characteristics: Long uphill/downhill, large altitude changes, frequent rain/fog, and sharp temperature swings.
The core challenge of the wiper:
Rain, mist, and dust erode both blades and motors. Mountain curves demand clear vision—any streak can cause misjudgment of oncoming traffic.
Key points for selection:
Splashing and temperature changes cause condensation. However, Leili's motor uses IP67 sealing and a pressure-balanced housing. It also passes cold starts at 4000m and -35°C.
Mountain sand wears ordinary blades, causing microcracks in 2,000 wipes. For better durability, use nano-coated silicone blades. They last 2.5x longer and stay flexible at -40°C.
For muddy mountain roads, use a ≥8L washer tank with dual 3.0 Bar nozzles to remove dried mud.
Scene 3: Night cross-provincial bus (e.g., Pearl River Delta → Yangtze River Delta night bus line)
Operational characteristics: high proportion of night driving, continuous operation of 10-14 hours, passing through multiple climatic zones.
The core challenge of wiper: Long runs raise motor temperature and test reliability. Night buses face sun, then rain—wipers must switch gears and run 8+ hours nonstop.
Key points for selection:
After 200h of full-load testing (-40°C to 125°C) and 50,000 wipes, torque decay stays under 2%—reliable for 10+ hours of continuous use.
The motor has an 85°C auto-speed reduction—it slows down, not shuts off, giving the driver time to stop safely without sudden wiper failure.
Wiper motor noise can disturb passenger rest at night. Therefore, ask suppliers for acoustic lab spectra, focusing on 250–800 Hz. Notably, Leili's motor stays below 52 dB(A) at 1 meter in this range.
Long-distance passenger bus windshield wiper system selection checklist
| Operation scenario | Recommended motor power | Protection class | Rubber strip type | Washing machine capacity | spoiler |
|---|
| Plain Expressway Express | 80–120W | IP55+ | Teflon-coated rubber | 5L | necessary |
| Mountain/highland route | 100–180W | IP65+ | Nano-coating silicone | ≥8L | necessary |
| Overnight cross-provincial bus | 100–120W | IP65+ | Teflon-coated rubber | 6L | necessary |
Full system matching: not just motors and gaskets
Long-haul selection needs more than just a good motor and blade. Three overlooked areas:
Connecting rod mechanism stroke matching
Bus windshields (2.2–2.5m) require 98%/80% coverage per GB 15086. Leili’s linkage sweeps 80°–90°, covering 1720–1980mm. It fits Yutong ZK6128 and Jinlong XMQ6127.
Design of wiper arm tension force
Long-haul wiper arms (750–850mm) need 6–10N end pressure. Too little causes lift; too much wears blades and motors. However, Leili arms use tempered spring steel with factory-set pressure, so no adjustment is needed after installation.
Consideration of spare parts interchangeability
A 50-bus fleet doubles costs if using 5 incompatible blade types. However, Leili offers a modular system. One motor platform fits Yutong, Jinlong, Ankai, and Haige via bracket swaps. As a result, it slashes spare parts inventory.
