Wenzhou, China — Zhejiang Leili Auto Parts Co., Ltd. (“LEILI”), a manufacturer of automotive windshield wiper systems and bus door locks since 1989, exhibited at the Wenzhou auto parts expo 2024 — the 4th China (Wenzhou) International Auto and Motorcycle Parts Expo — held from 5 to 7 September 2024 at the Wenzhou International Convention & Exhibition Center. The company showed bus wiper systems, wiper motors and bus door locks at Booth 3H39.

Four years growing alongside the cluster

The Wenzhou auto parts expo was the first automotive parts fair in China to hold UFI certification. Founded in 2020, it has grown from 15,000 sqm at the first edition to 38,000 sqm at the fourth, with exhibiting companies past 1,200 — a shift from a regional show to a national one.

The growth has something underneath it. As of 2023, Wenzhou counted more than 4,000 automotive and motorcycle parts companies covering 12 product categories and over 5,000 series, with industry output above RMB 95 billion (2023). Tooling development, rubber vulcanisation, metalworking and final assembly all have suppliers inside the same city, so most of a part can be sourced without leaving the district.

Concentration is visible in who turns up. Dozens of regional delegations come on that basis, and Ruian alone sent 720 exhibiting companies this edition.

A topic repeated across the floor was the move from conventional mechanical components towards new-energy and intelligent systems. Companies in Wenzhou have entered the supply chains of vehicle makers including BYD, Geely, SAIC and NIO, and the local industrial chain is reorganising around new-energy vehicle parts — which puts new demands on upstream suppliers’ product planning.

Holding the fair at home changes one thing in particular: the cost of trust. A buyer does not have to take an introduction on faith. They can walk the stand and then go to the plant the same day, which removes most of the distance between what a supplier claims and what can be seen.

Exhibition facts

Three days at the Wenzhou International Convention & Exhibition Center, with eight supporting forums alongside.

  • Official name: The 4th China (Wenzhou) International Auto and Motorcycle Parts Expo
  • Dates: 5–7 September 2024
  • Venue: Wenzhou International Convention & Exhibition Center, No. 1 Jiangbin East Road, Wenzhou, Zhejiang
  • Hosts: China Machinery Industry Federation; Wenzhou Modern Service Industry Development Group Co., Ltd.
  • Organiser: Wenzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center Co., Ltd.
  • Theme: “Millennium Trading Port, Auto Parts Capital” (translated from the Chinese 千年商港、汽配之都)
  • Scale: 38,000 sqm; more than 1,200 exhibiting companies
  • Fringe programme: eight forums on export, lean digital improvement and quality certification

Exhibits covered automotive parts, motorcycle parts, accessories and tuning, complete vehicles and key new-energy vehicle components.

For a cluster of more than 4,000 companies, the fair carries two functions at once. It is peer exchange — companies swap information and compare process and capacity, showing their manufacturing capability to the outside — and it is purchasing. Local advantage shortens that second one considerably: buyers can leave the hall for the factory, look at equipment and inspection records, and finish a conversation that would otherwise take weeks.

Visitor invitation for Booth 3H39, 4th Wenzhou International Auto and Motorcycle Parts Expo 2024

LEILI at Booth 3H39

LEILI sits in Pingyang, Wenzhou, so exhibiting here amounts to receiving customers at home. Several visitors combined a booth visit and a factory visit into a single trip, which is difficult to arrange when the hall is in another city.

The stand was built around physical display and parameter notes:

The product line extends well beyond buses: truck windshield wiper systems, construction vehicles, school buses, marine craft and rail vehicles, agricultural machinery and coaches all use these assemblies. LEILI holds ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certification and supplies OE programmes to a number of vehicle manufacturers.

What visitors asked

Over the three days, a fair number of conversations at Booth 3H39 were with peers rather than prospects, which is what happens at an industrial-belt fair. The subject of those conversations is informative in its own right: local companies have moved from asking “can it be made” to “can it be made steadily”. Certification systems, digital retrofit and export compliance came up repeatedly — a cluster working through its systems homework in public.

Buyers have raised their requirements to match. More customers than in previous years asked for inspection records, material specifications and batch traceability method; a single sample no longer supports a complete purchasing decision.

Exhibiting at home pushes that demand into ordinary working life. Visitors go from the stand to the plant, so process records have to be producible at any moment rather than assembled for an audit. Being open at that frequency forces every inspection and every parameter to be written down properly, and written down at the time.

This was never going to be the fair that fills the order book: three days, a regional audience, no delegation from outside the province worth counting. What it does instead is put the whole product line on a table in front of the people who make the same things we do.

Reach of the expo

Visitor numbers were respectable, with most attendees drawn from local and nearby parts companies rather than from a broad national audience, alongside overseas buyers from Southeast Asia. Exhibiting here is as much a mutual showing among peers as it is a sales exercise.

Eight supporting forums ran on export, digitalisation and quality certification, which is a fair reading of where the cluster’s attention sits — less on winning the next order, more on building the capability that keeps orders coming.

Some buyers went straight from the fair to the plant, completing the shift from examining samples to walking a production line inside a single day.

This three days sat inside a busier year: Busworld Türkiye earlier that year had already happened, and IAA Transportation later in September followed. The Wenzhou series continued with the fifth edition a year later and the 2026 edition.

Closing

Samples went out for confirmation the week the fair closed, and the first factory audits were booked in the same week. What electric vehicles ask of a wiping system has been written into the next product plan.

Yang Hao, spokesperson for Zhejiang Leili Auto Parts Co., Ltd., said: “The real advantage of exhibiting at home is how little it costs to be believed. A customer finishes with the parts, walks into the workshop, sees the equipment and the inspection records — which argues better than anything we could hand them. The fair gets bigger every year, so this belt is still climbing. Ours is to keep pace with it.”
